Luxien Lacroix from Forever Knight

My thoughts on Lacroix

I have been a fan of Lacroix since the pilot episode of the series, watched all the episodes I could get my hands on. On occasion even in the most dreadful quality due to the bad reception on my old tv. Also I never could understand what Lacroix saw in Nick, I really enjoyed the past scenes in Season 1, when Lacroix tried to teach Nick a lesson and in consequence messed things up for him.

Before that my main contacts with vampires were Anne Rice's novels, the tv show the little vampire, the original Dracula novel and some other books. Mainly vampire's were whiny whimps, like Louis form "Interview with the Vampire" or Nick himself. Lacroix was refreshingly different, instead of complaining about his nature, he enjoyed it.

Even though his experience has led him to see things with a pessimitic outlook, his comments and lessons were always most enjoyable. My season one favourite would probably be 1966, where he prevented Nick from obtaining a book that was supposed to cure vampirism and used the east german secret police to harass his mortal allies. Although the last episode has of course the best scene, when we see that Lacroix has returned for good.

Season 2 had some pretty awesome episodes, as Lacroix is not only active in the past, but once again interfers in the present and resumes his radio broadcasts to which Nick listens faithfully. Moreso it became aparant that even though he is not the nicest person he is a person. Usually vampires who do kill are always presented as unable to interact with the world.

Naturally I love "Be my valentine" even though I found Fleur a bit annoying being so overly fragile and good. That was so cliche, ever since I anted to have another romance story with Lacroix. Still, the important fact remained, that he was capable those feeligns. Even more beautiful was "A fate worse than death", where we see how he turned Janette. It was a lovely scene and fit well with his usual habit to bring over quite a lot of vampires for various reasons: fun, spite, sick jokes, revenge.

My second favourite episode is "Father's Day". Lacroix is obviously not above keeping his promise to a mortal, which gives him extra points for style. Also how Nick asked him to let the young man go, just to do him a favour, because Nick knew that Lacroix would never do this for him. The solution at then end was truly brilliant.

I have seen a few episode from Season 3 and have disliked them all. Especially horrible was the episode with the demon possession. Lacroix was so out of character, this guy is older than Christianity, whoever put those words into his mouth should be stoned.

Rating:

Brainpower:

Sex Appeal:
Toughness:
Badness:

Brainpower:

Is one of the smarter villains out there, lead armies, devices vicious little schemes, knows how people will re-act and is ressourceful in his arguments. On occasion, however, he tends to forget to use his mind. (8 out of 10)

Physical:

Has the supernatural strenght of a very old vampire, if necessary flies quickly to his destination. Prefers to solve things with his mind, but can also kick someone around if necessary. Last, but not least he is a vampire and tends to bite people. (7 out of 10)

Skill:

Knows how to use his vampiric talents better than most, is also a musician, talk shows host, actor and a military man, having lead armies from before his turning. (8 out of 10)

Presence:

Lacroix makes quite the impression just by reaching out with his radio broadcasts, in person he is much more intimidating - even without the fangs and glowing eyes. (10 out of 10)

Sex Appeal:

I am into older guys and adore vampires, that already gives him heads up, but among the fictious vampires out there, he is one of the irresistable ones. However, his bleak outlook on relationships is a bit of a turn off. (8 out of 10)

Toughness:

Considering that he burned to ashes and yet returned qualifies him for a high rating, not to mention that he endured Nick all those years without losing his devotion towards him. (10 out of 10)

Badness

Lacroix is certainly one of the more evil characters around, alone his deeds as a mortal were far from being nice. Yet, he is not all bad, he could really screw things up for Nick, but does not. Also he did a lot of nice things for other characters. (6 out of 10)
